LENS

Quality which makes a difference

Sunglasses are essential in vision protection. Correctly used and worn, sunglasses can reduce the effects of exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, which is associated with a number of eye ailments, and can reduce brightness and glare, which impair vision. We warranty all of our lenses carry an anti-reflective or scratch protection.

Anti-glare protection

When light reflects off a shiny surface such as sand, water, snow or roads, it becomes concentrated horizontally and causes glare. Glare reduces visibility and makes it uncomfortable, painful and dangerous to carry on driving, cycling, skiing or even just sunbathing. While non-polarized lenses just make things look darker, polarized sunglasses block virtually all glares. Light is made up of waves travelling in all directions. Upon reflection on certain surfaces, light travels in two main directions, vertically and horizontally. Vertical light is useful to the human eye: it helps us see. Horizontal light, however, simply creates glare. The horizontally-stretched polarizing layer inside every Polaroid lens does not allow horizontal light to pass through. TIWI’s lenses 1.1 mm have unsurpassable anti-glare properties and consistently surpass all.

International safety standards of protection against UVA, UVB and UVC.

The first criterion of quality that makes the difference is the UV lens filter, which should be high. TIWI lenses meet all international requirements for UV protection, guaranteeing 100% protection against UVA and UVB radiation.

International Standards

All sunglasses sold in the European Union must be tested and labelled according to the European safety code: “CE” so they must meet the standard’s requirements for effective sunglasses. TIWI also meet the American safety code ANSI Z80.3-2008 and the Australian safety code AS/NZS 1067:2003.
